Taste of Lawrence

Lawrence Avenue East (from Crockford Blvd to Warden Avenue) in Scarborough is closed to traffic for this signature festival.  The street is filled with sights, sounds, aromas and activities for everyone to enjoy.  A large 30-foot stage is the focal point at the corner of Warden and Lawrence (one of the main entry points to the festival) where unique and amazing musical and dance performances will be featured.  Roaming performers also provide entertainment at ground level throughout the hours of the festival.
The Taste of Lawrence celebrates the cultural diversity of the Scarborough area by showcasing unique cultural music, performers, vendors, retailers, community groups and the gastronomic flavours, which make this the most colourful and ethnically based area of Toronto.
The main objective of the festival is to raise funds for local Scarborough charities through a variety of initiatives.  The BIA is committed to raising funds in support of local charities, while also providing more than 50% of the funds necessary to stage the Taste of Lawrence Festival every year. Without the help of the community and corporate sponsors this event would not be possible.
We always welcome sponsor opportunities and unique Vendors to partner with us during The Taste of Lawrence Festival.  For more information please contact our office by email:  info@wexfordbia.ca or call us at (416) 288-1718.

The Free LED Light
Exchange Program:

(Check back for the November 2008 dates)

The LED light exchange program was launched by Toronto Hydro in 2005 in an effort to conserve energy. In 2007 The Wexford Heights BIA partnered with Toronto Hydro is supplying one string of LED lights to any consumer in exchange for a string of older lights (no matter what the condition).
The first LED light exchange was so successful that The BIA is taking a lead role and continuing its efforts to help our local community conserve energy through the distribution of the energy efficient lights and through education.
This program is run for a short period of time in November of each year and is locally publicized to make the community aware of the free exchange.
